Ponies! Whether running wild or performing under saddle, these pint-sized equines are easy to love. Though they come in different breeds and colors, ponies always measure under 14.2 hands (58 inches) tall. This set is a pony family and includes a stallion, mare and foal.

This stallion is the father of his family, a proud and spirited animal whose color is called dun (golden tan). Horses and ponies this color also have primitive markings like stripes down their backs, and, sometimes, markings like a zebra's stripes on their shoulders or legs. While the stallion stands watch over his family, the mare, or mother, often nurses her baby, or foal. A mare's relationship to her foal is especially strong. She will protect him and teach him how to survive, both in the wild and around humans. This mare is a grulla pinto. That means she's spotted with white and a smoky shade of dun, or grulla. Her foal is a dun pinto, with traits from both parents. Ponies are hardy, and often grow thick winter coats to protect them from the cold. Trusty, surefooted and clever, they make wonderful teachers for children when trained for riding or driving. And, despite their small size, ponies can do everything a horse can - and then some!
